My husband and I were on our way to a funeral in Sacramento, Ky., on Monday when we drove through Bremen and saw a sign for Gatton Farms, which is the home of Father’s Country Hams.
We stopped and bought a country ham, which we’ll hang in the garage until Thanksgiving, and we also picked up country ham and smoked sausage patties, hickory smoked sausage and cheese balls, and smoked country bacon.
The cheese balls are fully cooked and ready to eat. They’re made with smoked sausage, Weisenberger Mill’s buttermilk biscuit mix, and sharp Cheddar cheese – and better than homemade. The product was featured on Good Morning America in 2002, as a favorite of food editor Sara Moulton when she visited the annual Fancy Food Show.
Father’s country bacon was featured earlier this month on the Food Network show, The Secret Life Of.
